Kate Bennett, originally from Rochester, Michigan, loves being a part of Detroit and the Pure Detroit Design Lab. Kate attended Wayne State University’s theatre program where she received her Bachelors degree in Costume design. Since graduating 2002, Kate has been building a custom bridal gown business and creating unique ready-to-wear garments exclusively for the Pure Detroit Design Lab. Kate has a passion for combining wearable and theatrical styles to fit the modern woman. Her bridal design work represents a love of old world couture, while her evening and women’s wear, she hopes, represents a lighter funkier style.

Every Kate Bennett garment is currently hand made in Michigan, and as her business grows she would like to keep it that way. In the future Kate hopes to sell her bridal gowns nationally and locally. Her garments and designs have received acclaim and recognition from Wayne State University, The Detroit Free Press, Hour magazine, Metro Detroit Bride Magazine and The Metrotimes.
